Enhance Academy Trust is a charitable company (No. 07904096) established in January 2012 to sponsor Church of England and other schools choosing or required to become academies. Working in partnership with a number of academies across Wakefield and Kirklees, the Trust’s mission is to improve educational outcomes and personal development for every pupil. Each academy retains its unique character while benefiting from shared expertise, strong governance, and a commitment to the values of Encourage, Help, Achieve, Nurture.

Diamond Wood Community Academy became part of Enhance Academy Trust on 1st July 2013 (conversion and renaming took effect on 1st February 2014). Since then, our school has been guided and supported as part of the Trust's growing family of academies committed to educational excellence.

Our school name was chosen through a vote by the wider school community, including parents, carers pupils, governors and staff. It was inspired by the creation of the Diamond Jubilee Wood in the new Dewsbury Country Park, whose entrance lies in Ravensthorpe. Dewsbury Country Park, a former landfill site situated between Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury Moor, and Heckmondwike, is home to one of only 60 Diamond Woods planted across the UK to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The people of Ravensthorpe have enjoyed many opportunities to plant trees as part of this project. As a school, we are committed to involving our children in planting even more, helping them play an active role in shaping the future woodland. One local resident captured the spirit of the project perfectly:
