During the academic year we hold a number of parent events and workshops including:

  • Reading

  • Phonics
  • Mathematics

  • Stay & Play in Nursery

  • Starting School meetings

  • Chatter Trails

  • Craft workshops

Letters will go out prior to each event. If you have any questions about any of these please speak to your class teacher or visit the school office.

Parents' Courses

FAMILIES CONNECT PARENTING COURSE

HOW IT WORKS

The Families Connect parent course focuses on supporting parents and children to learn together.  It helps parents to support their children’s learning in three key areas:

  • Literacy and language development
  • Numeracy
  • Emotional development

The course is run in partnership with Save the Children and is facilitated by Mandy Farrar, our Wellbeing Support Worker. The workshops run over eight-weeks and provides a series of activities, techniques and games that parents and carers can do with their children at home. Each activity encourages parents and children to spend quality time together by talking about specific topics and reflecting on what they already do to support their children’s learning. Parents will also learn the science behind the programme’s activities.

These informal workshops invite parents to explore new games and approaches that might help them to support their child’s learning at home.

We run Families Connect on a rolling programme, which is very well attended and sought after by our parents. It is very inclusive and is held in a calm and enjoyable environment with a focus on having fun.

The children who take part are so excited to work with their caregivers each week and enjoy the activities set out in the programme.  Each week there is a new topic with free resources to make and take home to support learning.

If you would like more information about the programme please contact Mandy Farrar on 01924 325308.
