Our Equality Objectives
A Place to Grow, A Place to Shine – For Everyone!
At Diamond Wood Community Academy, we are proud to be a place to grow and a place to shine. We are committed to making sure every child, whatever their background, ability or need, feels included, valued and safe. These early years are vital in helping children develop positive attitudes towards themselves and others. Our Equality Objectives help ensure that children grow up with strong foundations of empathy, fairness and respect.

Why This Matters
By sharing our Equality Objectives on our website, we aim to:
-
Show our commitment to inclusive, equitable education
-
Keep families informed and involved in the values we teach
-
Reflect the expectations set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the Protected Characteristics
-
Promote the Fundamental British Values of democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
-
Support children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development (SMSC)
We go beyond equality to focus on equity, understanding that every child is different, and giving each one the specific support they need to thrive and shine in their own way.
We also uphold our Diamond Promises, especially Kind Hearts. These promises guide how we treat each other every day, forming the foundation of our inclusive school culture.
Our Equality Objectives:
-
Objective 1: To monitor and analyse pupil achievement by race, gender and disability and act on any trends or patterns in the data that require additional support for pupils.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to reach their potential across all areas of school life. By removing barriers to learning and participation, and offering personalised support, we celebrate progress in all its forms: academic, emotional, creative, and social. -
Objective 2: To raise levels of attainment in core subjects for vulnerable learners.
We focus on challenging prejudice and stereotypes that may hinder pupil confidence or limit aspiration. Through inclusive teaching materials, diverse role models, and equitable classroom practices, we aim to create an environment where all children, regardless of background, can succeed and thrive. -
Objective 3: To review levels of parental and pupil engagement in learning and school life, across all activities to ensure equity and fairness in access and engagement.
We celebrate the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of our school community, actively promoting respect and inclusion through curriculum choices, cultural events, and open dialogue. We also provide opportunities for families to engage meaningfully with school life, ensuring everyone feels valued and represented.
Living Our Values
These objectives aren’t just policies, they are part of our daily practice. Whether it's learning through play, exploring feelings in circle time, or choosing a book for storytime, we weave in our commitment to:
-
Kind Hearts – Showing empathy, standing up for others, and including everyone
-
Equity – Recognising and meeting different needs fairly
-
British Values – Learning about fairness, respect, and everyone's right to belong
-
Protected Characteristics – Ensuring that every child and adult is treated with dignity, regardless of their race, religion, gender, disability, or family background
Together, these principles ensure that our school truly is a place to grow, a place to shine, for every child, every day.
